THE GREAT FLOOD OF'09 - WHAT DIDN'T HEAR ABOUT IT??

Hi All!!

As the title indicates we suffered a flood in our basement last night of epic proportions!! OK...maybe not epic...but we had about 4" of water ALL OVER our basement! Yup...we had a current in our BASEMENT!! It was coming fast and furious through our floor drain due to the amazing storm Winnipeg suffered last night! Sadly, the water overflow system in our neighbourhood decided to take a little detour into our basement!! NICE!

Needless to say we have been very busy getting rid of water and trying to rescue our possessions. Luckily, our insurance is coming to the rescue. If anyone has the option of getting coverage through the COOPERATOR'S in your area....do so!! They ROCK!!

Somehow, 4" of water turned into $40K worth of damage!! Yup....you read that right!! $40K!! They are going to have to rip our entire basement out! We have lost the use of it for 3 months!!

Our Internet connection is in the family room, which is in the basement so I am over at my sister-in-laws using her connection AND 'puter to write this post. We will be back up at home by Saturday night..our modem took a swim...hmmmmm...apparently modems don't know how to swim!! Who knew!! Well....we do now!!

To make a long story short...ok...that's ships sailed already!!! This weeks release may be late this week....but maybe not....rest assured if I don't get the new release up on Saturday it will be available on Sunday! PROMISE!! Thanks for stopping by!! I will be back soon...a little drier with a new Internet connection!

  2. So sorry to hear about your flood. Next time tell that modem to be protected and wear a raincoat so it doesn't get wet! LOL

    See you soon!

  3. Ooooh! That is horrible! Good luck with all the renovations! Well, now you can change your decor. LOL! What a pain! I know that they are very cooperative (the insurance co.) because of mildew! That's why it all gets ripped up! Maybe your modem needs flippers!

  4. Sunshine, I hate the aggravation and loss you're experiencing. Been there (hurricane). Take care of your family and home...the rest will take care of itself.
