RE-PURPOSED CURTAINS!!!

As promised earlier, here is one of the cards I made today. I will be uploading another one later tonight once it's dry. This card is another featuring "Curious Kitty". The background is one I picked up at the Michael's in Grand Forks, ND on clearance. I used my VersaMark Marker to add some embossing powder to the swirls. It kind of made the background look like fabric. Then I decided to get brave and cut up that curtain I made Gertie's tutu out of to use as the background fabric. I zigzagged the stitching and while it isn't perfect I still like the effect. A little more practice and I may get it on there straight!! LOL!!

I included a picture of the inside of the card as well. I didn't do as much with the inside of the card as I usually do, but I think the black and white with the Cuttlebug embossing is quite striking. As I was finishing up this card, it occurred to me that it looked like a card you would send to you girlfriend or a close Aunt. I think its the lace. LOL!! By the way...I attempted to sew the inside layers of this card with a straight stitch. Unfortunately the machine kept jamming and I finally gave it up as a lost cause. The ribbon is actually covering the "mess" I managed to make! LOL! I wondered if I had some adhesive under where I was sewing and it was causing the needle to drag?? If anyone has any idea's why this was happening I would love it if you would leave a comment for me!! This is all new to me!! LOL!!

The following pictures are close ups of the flower embellishment I came up with. I coloured the tips of the flower with my "Peacock Green" Prisma Marker to match the background of the card. Also I cut small increasingly larger circles to layer behind the flower. I used my mini glue dots to adhere the lace to the flower. I then added the two pearl tipped corsage pins to the flower to "add some glam" to the flower. I am pleased with the result. The black bow ties the embellishment to the rest of the card.

I have taken pictures of it from the front and the side to you could see some of the details. I am quite pleased with the end result of this embellishment. I have had these flowers {they came in a pack of two from the Dollar Store} for quite some time and haven't had an opportunity to use them. I think this is the perfect location for this one! Who knows where I will use the other one!!! Thanks for stopping by everyone! I will be back on later on to upload my Friday Potluck Challenge for the week! Lee really threw me a curve ball with her mixed up season's challenge! I don't have anything other than a couple of pif's of a Gina K winter image and of course my Just So Hippy Set!! Wait until you see what I came up with!! I think you will have a chuckle!! LOL!!
